You all had BACKDROP QUESTIONS after our post earlier today. Dropping in to answer the most popular topic: Shimmer Walls!

•Yes, we have them to rent AND we set them up and take them down for you. Gold, silver, a few fun colors and a new finish perfect for a mermaid or pastel rainbow theme!

•Yes, we’ve seen the cheap ones from Amazon. We have one in the Balloon Studio if you want to have a peek at why you shouldn’t buy them. Heavy, tedious, time consuming and next to impossible to get perfectly aligned. You’ll need a much heavier backdrop stand than what is sold on Amazon. If the kit comes with zip ties, avoid it!
•Yes, we’ve seen the $3 version from Temu and Shein. The photos look good, but in person it’s a Mylar sheet, like a streamer curtain, except cut in squares. Tears easily when unfolding and has big creases, it’s sad.
•What sizes do we rent: our professional Shimmer Wall system can be customized. We use a 7’x7’ often, an 8’x8’ sometimes and have also been building stage size Shimmer Walls that are 10’x20’! Just like with our balloon artistry, this is your celebration and you deserve custom decor. We are here to make that happen…and make it shimmer!!

Graduation parties means lots of photo spots, perfectly ballooned up! Today we are sharing five tips for a successful photo spot:

1. Size matters. If your guests are pretty average height, you don’t need a 10’ tall backdrop. A popular size that works well for small groups of guests is 7’x7’.
2. If you are making a backdrop as opposed to renting a professionally installed one, have a plan to secure it. A flat surface is essential and lots of weight at the base to keep it upright. Just a little wind can topple a heavy backdrop. If you have a friend known for over-engineering everything, ask for their help with this. You can’t overdo it when it comes to securing a backdrop.
3. Leave plenty of open space in front of and around the backdrop. Groups will gather here, make space for them to hang out while waiting to take pics. You’ll want plenty of space in the front for the photographer, photo booth or guests to be able to snap a full photo.
4. Think about where the sun is. Position your backdrop so the sun isn’t directly in the eyes of your guests.
5. Choose light colors of balloons for outdoor photo spots. They do best in warmer weather.

Have you snapped a pic with the amazing (and enormous!) Mario themed balloon sculpture on display at the Liberty @bbtheatres?
